During a major Boeing 777 passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversion, the engineering team identified a critical risk: exposed electrical wiring systems were vulnerable to damage throughout the modification process. The conversion environment introduced multiple hazards, including debris, swarf, snagging, contamination, and accidental impact. Off-the-shelf protective products were not suitable.
Canvasman worked closely with the engineering team to design a fully bespoke protection system tailored to the aircraft and its evolving configuration. Development included: On-site mapping; Measurement and templating; Iterative prototyping; Material testing; Design refinement
The bespoke covers significantly reduced the risk of wiring damage and contamination, creating safer, more controlled working conditions. Key outcomes: Reduced EWIS risk; Protection from swarf; Safer workflows; Cleaner work areas; Increased confidence — Ashy Vyas, Licensed Contractor Engineer
