We manufacture bespoke canopies in a range of fabrics with a wide variety of colours and fixings. Previous projects have included, garden canopies, restaurant and pub canopies, event canopies and all can be either designed to pop up and down or to be in place semi permanently. We are happy to measure and fit for you or, we can work from your dimensions and supply only. Please bear in mind the further you are from Yorkshire the greater the travel cost for the measure and fit service.
We can make your canopy to fit your existing structure, or we can help you design and also manufacture a new timber or steel supporting structure, which can be free standing or attached to your house or building.
We aim to design your canopy so that it can withstand the varied weather conditions it may encounter over the years. With this in mind the canopy will require good tension and enough run off to shed the water. Please bear in mind most canopies are fabric, and they will not like the weight of snow loading. We recommend taking them down for the winter months, or heating them, or clearing the snow before it can do any damage.
Is really important and is usually achieved by locking off one edge of the canopy with a mechanical fixing like Turnbuttons or Keder track, then our preferred method is to tension on the the other sides (usually 3) with our adjustable webbing straps spaced every 25omm. We do have other tensioning methods, if this doesn’t work for your project.
Angle of the canopy or Pitch
It is important to design the canopy with enough run off for rain water. Th required angle depends on the span and the fabric used, but canvas requires a greater degree of run off than other solid materials. Ordinarily we look for a minimum of around 15 degrees. Please bear this in mind when designing your structure. If you have an existing structure and you are unsure, please feel free to contact our sales team, who can advise on suitability and suggest ways in which it could be adapted.
We can manufacture pretty much any size or shape of canopy, however any single span over about 3m is difficult to sufficiently tension by hand. Canopies with a greater span than 3m will likely require a more substantial mechanical tensioning method, which will require more engineering. If you have a ridge on your structure them 3m either side of the ridge is fine.
We can also offer a range of Side panels to go with your canopy, which will give you an outdoor living space for all year round. Please have a look at our “side panels ” section.
“Outstanding service and perfect product. The team were attentive to details, communicative with updates, and very responsive to queries. If only more companies took a leaf out of Chris and Fran’s book. Thank you.” – Gareth Brogan ★★★★★
